A few reasons why you don’t see this great classic Back exercise is because its both difficult to cheat on, therefore hard to add weight and get stronger on it than most other back exercises. Just because you won’t see your favourite Instagram stars performing this exercise, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t. In fact, most bodybuilders I know do perform this exercise, just not always in public view 😉
At Workout Solutions we use the Side Lat pulldown with either cables, or ore often resistance bands. Use these as a “finisher” as your last upper back exercise, and focus on contracting, squeezing and stretching the muscles hard, and focusing intentionally on giving it your all to fully exhaust the upper back muscles with static, shortening, and lengthening contractions.
Yes, there is a reason why you don’t see some “old” exercises and has more to do with your competition not wanting you to see their “secret” exercise rather than “old” exercises being “ineffective. Add this proven exercise to your program, thank me later 😊
